CBT or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a talking therapy used to help treat many emotional and physical health conditions. CBT works on the basis that what we think affects the way we act. In turn, our actions can then re affect our thoughts and feelings. During CBT sessions, I will work with you to endeavour to help you change your behaviours or thinking patterns.
Research shows that CBT works effectively in treating depression. CBT is recommended by NICE (National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence) for the treatment of anxiety disorders.
NICE recommends CBT in the treatment of many conditions including: anxiety disorders (panic attacks and PTSD), depression and obsessive compulsive disorder.
CBT is helpful in treating many other conditions, including:
- chronic fatigue
- behavioural difficulties in children
- anxiety disorders
- sleep difficulties
- anger management etc.
